Returning Surge players will receive a one time $50 discount off their club registration fee if they bring a friend/friends along to tryouts and that player(s) receives and accepts an offer to play for a Surge team. This is a one time discount of $50 and NOT a per friend (player) discount. Contact us for more details.
DO NOT mail payments after 9/25/2017 for Boys and 10/23/2017 for Girls 12U to 14U and 10/30/2017 for Girls 15 to 18 years old. Payment must be received before Tryouts. Registrations received online without payment will be charged the walk-in fee of $60.

Must Register with USA volleyball @ www.krva.org to participate in tryouts. Players just trying out for a team may choose the $15 membership option (non-refundable) on the KRVA website when initially filling out the form. If the player is select to be on a team and they accept our offer, they would then need to upgrade their membership to full membership at www.KRVA.org for an additional $37.00. The total membership fee for KRVA is $52.00.

Parents must attend tryouts with their sons and daughters. Players selected for a team will be emailed following tryouts with an offer available for only 4 days. Offers must be accepted by following the instructions in the “offer” email from SurgeVolleyball.org and copying Surge Volleyball at email@example.com.

14U-18U Open Teams $775 – includes 12 competition days (1,2)

(1) 1 day tournaments are considered 1 competition day/2&3 day tournaments are considered 2 competition days
Tournament selection will be up to the coaches and parents. The number of tournaments will vary based on entry into multi-day competitions. Additional competition days can be added with an additional fee and agreed upon by all members of the team.
(2) All open teams will compete at a minimum, 1 USA BID tournament and 1 AAU Grand Prix or Super Regional.

The various 2018 age group breakdown are as follows:
Once a player participates (including but not limited to practicing, training, attending workouts and/or competing) in a club or varsity program for any university, college, community college, or junior college, he/she is ineligible to take part in any regional and national programming, which includes but is not limited to national JNC qualifying and championship events.
18 and Under Division: Players who were born on or after September 1, 1999
Players who were born on or after September 1, 1998 and a high school student in the twelfth (12th) grade or below during some part of the current academic year
17 and Under Division: Players who were born on or after September 1, 2000
16 and Under Division: Players who were born on or after September 1, 2001
15 and Under Division: Players who were born on or after September 1, 2002
14 and Under Division: Players who were born on or after September 1, 2003
13 and Under Division: Players who were born on or after September 1, 2004
12 and Under Division: Players who were born on or after September 1, 2005
11 and Under Division: Players who were born on or after September 1, 2006
10 and Under Division: Players who were born on or after September 1, 2007
9 and Under Division: Players who were born on or after September 1, 2008
8 and Under Division: Players who were born on or after September 1, 2009
Boys 14 and Under Division:
Regionally waived boys teams in the 14 and under age group will be allowed to participate at the USA Junior National Championships using the following age/grade definition:
Players who were born on or after September 1, 2003
Players who were born on or after September 1, 2002 (15 years or younger) who shall neither have completed nor are in a grade higher than the eighth grade (8th) during the current academic year. (This exception is based on the net height difference of 7’4 1/8” to 7’ 11 5/8” between the 14 and Under Division to the 15 and Under Division.)
Note: These age definitions are used by domestic club programs and are NOT the same as the age definitions for the International and Domestic High Performance programs for 2018.
The Age Definition Policy was most recently revised by the USA Volleyball Board of Directors on January 19, 2003. The classification cut-off date of September 1 was reviewed by the USAV Junior Assembly and the USA Regional Volleyball Association Assembly prior and during to the USAV 2013 Annual Meetings and research justified the continuation of the cut-off date of September 1.
The clarification of this rule is below.
The Junior Girls Operating Code, Section 3.5, Subsection 11 states: “Once a Club (through a player’s parent) offers a player a position on a team roster, the offer must remain open, without changes in conditions, for a minimum of four (4) days from the date of the offer unless the offer is declined, in writing, prior to the expiration of the offer period.” When calculating “four days from the date of the offer,” you take the date the offer is made (regardless of time) and add 4.
With the growing size of our club and the number of athletes who attend each tryout, the coaching staff has decided that it would make team selection easier if we have pictures and video to refer to. Head shot pictures will be taken upon arrival at tryouts to be used by the coaches during team selections. Pictures will be deleted after team selections are final. We will also have video of the tryouts that will also be deleted upon team selections are final.

• September 30th to October 1st – Boys 14U to 18U Tryouts
• October 29th-31st – Girls 12U to 14U Tryouts
• November 12th-15th – Girls 15U to 18U Tryouts
• Monday November 20th, 2017 – Mandatory Coaches & Parent meeting: 6:00-8:00 pm – All registration fees are due at this time.
• Tuesday November 21st & 22nd, 2017 – 2017/18 Club Clinic Kickoff Time: 5:00-6:30/6:30-8:00/8:00-9:30 team groups will be determined once all teams are formed tentatively:
11/21/2017 – 12U & 13U 5:00-6:30 pm- cost: $5.00.
11/21/2015 – 14U 6:30-8:00 pm- cost: $5.00.
11/21/2015 – 17U & 18U 8:00-9:30 pm- cost: $5.00.
11/22/2015 – 15U 6:00-7:30 pm- cost: $5.00.
